Research Findings

His research interests include Landscape Ecology, Land Change Science, Environmental remote sensing, ecosystem service, social-ecological systems.
His majors research findings are as below.
Research findings 1: He had established the methods and mapping of watershed ecosystem services in the Chinese western mountainous area. Some watershed landscape pattern and ecosystem services assessment method were developed, and an alternative ecosystem services assessment method was proposed for the absence of primary data in western mountainous areas. He had put forward a tradeoff/collaborative quantitative analysis method for the watershed ecosystem services (ESTD).
Research Outcome 2 -- He had improved the regional ecological risk assessment methods and landscape management. He had proposed a landscape ecological risk assessment method, a coupling cascade framework of "land use - ecological risk - ecosystem services - decision and management," and a research framework of ecosystem service zoning and management based on ecological risk.
Research Result 3: He had established new methods and ideas for spatiotemporal change and the driving mechanism of the oasis. A multi-source remote sensing image data fusion method was developed to reconstruct the spatial distribution map of the Jinta oasis from 1963 to 2010. He had constructed the analysis method of spatial-temporal change and driving mechanism of the oasis and expanded the research method for the linear corridor and landscape response in arid regions.
Research Result 4 -- He had carried out remote sensing monitoring and decision-making management of ecological change in the western Mountainous region. He had developed some remote sensing monitoring indexes and evaluation methods of environmental change in western mountainous areas. And the ability of rapid remote sensing monitoring and evaluation of ecological change in west mountainous regions has been promoted.
Research Result 5 -- He had explored the regional socio-ecological system's temporal and spatial changes and its environmental effects. Some multi-source data fusion technology and mapping method were developed to reveal the changes of regional socio-ecosystem and their eco-environmental effects. He had improved the research methods of the social-ecological system and its application in the Chinese hilly loess region.
Research Result 6 -- He had quantitatively analyzed the urbanization and urban landscape pattern change in the arid regions. A quantitative analysis method of "block-axial" for urban landscape change in the arid area was developed to reveal the spatiotemporal dynamics of urbanization and urban landscape change.
